County seeking artist for Tallassee Road roundabout project

Released today by Athens-Clarke County:
The Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County (ACCGov) invites professional artists to submit qualifications for a large scale, 3D artwork for the Tallassee Road roundabout in Athens, Georgia. The selected artist(s) will work with stakeholders and government staff to create a public artwork that enhances the user experience and complements the selected site. Â Application deadline is November 7, 2025 at 5 PM.Â
Applications:
All applications must be submitted to Athens-Clarke County’s online system of calls for entry.Â

All applications must include the following to be considered by the resident selection panel:Â
Contact information, including your name(s), mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail.Â
A resume highlighting your credentials and related experience.Â
Contact information for at least three (3) professional references.Â
Jpeg images (no PDFs) of three (3) examples of previous work of comparable scale and budget. (Please do not include captions or watermarks on your images that will identify you.)Â
Please indicate your interest in mentoring a local artist as part of the project. (Yes or No)
If selected as a finalist, artist(s) or teams will be paid a fee of $500 to provide the following:
A title and description of your public art concept for this project. Include a materials list, any needs for special equipment or the like, and a timeline for producing and installing the artwork. Provide enough detail to support your images and budget.Â
Up to five (5) images of your proposed design, annotated with image descriptions such as perspective, scale, etc. May include additional detail images, if needed. The media chosen to convey the proposed design(s) is up to your discretion, whether hand-drawn, computer generated, digital media, or photograph examples including previous work. However, all designs must be uploaded as a digital attachment.
A budget that details all costs related to the proposed artwork(s) including, but not limited to, design, engineering review, materials, fabrication, and installation including foundation/supports, insurance, travel and artist’s fees.Â
Maintenance plan to outline long terms care needs of the artwork.
Contract Provisions:
The selected artist will be required to enter into a formal contract with Athens-Clarke County. Â The basic provisions of the contract are included in Attachment C. No work will begin on the project until the contract is signed by all parties. (Note: This process may require no less than 8 weeks to complete after the artist is selected and notified; and may take longer depending on the county approval process.)
