A 27-year-old Athens woman has been indicted for alleged cruelty to her juvenile daughter during an incident that occurred over three years ago.
Schnae Kareese Dye had been arrested in August 2022 but her case wasn’t presented to a grand jury until this week.
According to the indictment, Dye committed first-degree child cruelty when she caused her daughter to suffer cruel and excessive physical and mental pain “by biting her arm to the extent that the skin was damaged.”
She is also charged with second-degree cruelty, for which the indictment lays out identical facts.
Dye remains free on bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on December 1st.
A condition of her bond is that she can’t have contact with the victim or any of her children.
