Date set for Downtown Parade of Lights

Released today by the county government:
The annual Athens-Clarke County Downtown Parade of Lights is scheduled for Thursday, December 4 starting at 7:00 p.m.
This year’s theme is “Cooking up a Great Holiday.” Performing units will be judged during the parade as they arrive at the receiving stage next to the community tree. Float entries will compete for such prizes as “Most Original Float,” “Best Use of Theme,” and “Best Use of Lights.” The best overall float will receive the “Mayor’s Award.”
The parade will begin on the corner of Hancock Avenue and Pulaski Street, continue through downtown, culminating with Santa Claus lighting the Christmas Tree in front of City Hall. The parade route map is available at www.accgov.com/parade
Local award winning chef and restauranteur Peter Dale will serve as the 2025 Parade Marshal. Mr. Dale is the current owner of iconic Athens restaurant 5&10 where he began his culinary career. Over the years, he has explored a variety of culinary pursuits and open restaurants including Condor Chocolates, Maepole, The National, and Seabear Oyster Bar.
