Kasaun Janalle Love, 33, of East Clayton Street, was arrested early the morning of December 20th after he fired a gun during a gathering in a home on the eastside of Athens.
A man who tends bar downtown had invited Love and several others to an “after party” at his home on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. Some of those people reportedly had bought cocaine from Love previously.
At some point Love began demanding to know what happened to a plastic grocery bag that he claimed to have had, but no one knew what he was talking about,
He reportedly was highly agitated, “yelling at everyone to give him his shit,” and pulled a gun from his waistband and fired it into the ceiling.
The others pleaded with Love to put the gun away before scattering, with some hiding in a closet. A 20-year-old woman would later tearfully tell police that she’d been terrified by Love‘a behavior.
When the police arrived Love tried to flee out the back of the home but he was caught and arrested by officers who found him to have over $5,000.
They found the gun hidden under the kitchen sink, and upon taking him to taken to jail Love was searched and found to have a bag of cocaine in his underwear.
He was booked in on charges of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, reckless conduct, possession of a controlled substance, and crossing a jail guard line with illegal drugs.
Love is being detained pending a bail hearing that is scheduled for January 20th.
