Man breaks into girlfriend’s home and assaults her

Demetrius Joseph was arrested early the morning of June 20th after he broke into his girlfriend’s home on Woodridge Circle and assaulted her.
The 28-year-old offender also slapped the woman’s teenage son who intervened.
According to police, Joseph and the woman had been involved in an argument and she locked the door when he stepped outside.
He got broke a glass pane in the door and reaching in to unlock it. Once back inside Joseph pushed the victim down and punched her in the face multiple times while standing over her.
The victim’s 17-year-old son heard the commotion from his room and he intervened, at which point Joseph ran from the residence and the woman called 911. She was treated at the scene by EMTs for injuries that included a swollen and bruised eye and scratches everywhere of her body.
Joseph was found near the scene by police, and arrested on charges of family violence battery, simple battery, and criminal damage to property.
He was booked into the county jail with a Florida address, and he remained there as of Sunday morning despite a judge having granted him bail in the amount of $1,500.
