Winder announces downtown entertainment district

From the City of Winder:

We are introducing a new development in our community—the establishment of the Downtown Winder Entertainment District!

This initiative, starting June 1, will transform downtown Winder into a vibrant hub for social gatherings and entertainment. We want to share some things you’ll begin to see within the Entertainment District and what you need to know.

Signage within the boundaries will include updated pole banners, signage affixed to some stop signs, new sign installations and sidewalk decals marking the boundaries.

What’s New?

Starting June 1st, licensed establishments within the newly designated Entertainment District will be allowed to serve alcoholic beverages for consumption outside their premises. Patrons can enjoy their drinks in a lively, open-air setting, making our downtown a more inviting place to relax and socialize.

Where is the Entertainment District?

The boundaries of the Entertainment District are outlined on this map. This area includes various local businesses that contribute to our dynamic community atmosphere.

GUIDELINES FOR ENJOYING YOUR TIME

Approved Containers

Alcoholic beverages must be purchased from an establishment licensed to sell alcohol within the Entertainment District and carried in clear plastic cups not exceeding 16 ounces. These cups will have the logo of the participating business, making it easy to see where your beverage came from.

Carrying Beverages

Patrons are allowed to leave licensed establishments with their drinks in clear approved containers.

Consumption Limits

There is a maximum limit of possessing two alcoholic beverages per person to ensure a responsible and enjoyable environment for all.

Hours of Operation

Beverages can be purchased, carried and consumed outdoors within the Entertainment District boundaries from 12 PM to 10 PM Sunday to Thursday, and 12 PM to 12 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.

Safety First

Open containers of alcohol not purchased from a licensed establishment within the Entertainment District are not permitted to be consumed/carried and persons under the age of 21 are not permitted to purchase or consume alcohol. Drink responsibly. Do not attempt to operate a motor vehicle if you are under the influence.

Plan Your Visit

Whether you’re planning a casual outing with friends or a special evening in downtown Winder, the new Entertainment District offers a unique and festive atmosphere. Enjoy the freedom of sipping your favorite drink while strolling through our beautiful downtown, and experience the best of local hospitality and charm.

Pay Attention to Signage

Signage will be placed in a business’s window within the Entertainment District indicating if they are licensed to sell alcohol. Additional signage will be placed in the windows of businesses not licensed to sell alcohol. Some businesses may welcome you to bring your beverage inside their business while you shop, and some may not. So it is important to pay attention to signage and respect our local businesses.

Stay Informed

This newsletter is just the beginning! Stay tuned for more updates, special events, and features that highlight everything our Entertainment District has to offer. We look forward to seeing you downtown, where community meets entertainment.

Thank you for being a part of this exciting new chapter in Winder’s story. We are committed to making our city a vibrant place for entertainment and gatherings while prioritizing the safety and well-being of our community.
