Athens man arrested for assaulting daughter

Kevin Lakie West, 48, of Quailwood Drive, was arrested the evening of August 24th after he badly injured his daughter during a domestic dispute.
He reportedly punched the 27-year-old woman in the face and grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head against the kitchen counter.
Police were notified of the incident by the hospital where she was treated for her injuries.
The victim said she had been living with her father since moving from Pennsylvania a month earlier and that there was a previous domestic incident In which West pointed a gun at her when she tried calling 911.
When questioned at home West was found in possession of a pistol he wasn’t allowed to have because of a 1996 robbery conviction in Albany, NY.
West was charged with battery under the Georgia Family Violence Act and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He is being detained at the county jail pending a bail hearing that’s scheduled for September 17th.
