A former deputy was arrested for DUI Sunday night after a motorist reported that she was driving recklessly and had gotten out of her car in the roadway.
According to an Oconee County Sheriff’s Office incident report, a responding deputy found 38-year-old Nickia Tyler of Winder at about 10:15 p.m. in a car that was stopped on Macon Highway just shy of the White Oak Drive intersection.
Tyler had an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from her, according to the report, which noted that she failed roadside sobriety tests.
She was subsequently administered a breath test that indicated that her blood alcohol content was .248 percent, according to the incident report.
Tyler was arrested and charged with DUI and failure to maintain lane.
Fox 5 Atlanta reported that Tyler was a former deputy who resigned from the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office last year.
She was released from custody in Oconee County upon posting bonds totaling $1,171.
