From UGA Today

Continuing a proud Olympic tradition, 34 current, former, and future University of Georgia student-athletes will compete in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games, beginning next Friday in Paris, France.

The delegation of 34 athletes will be joined by eight individuals participating in coaching, operations, media relations, and broadcasting capacities. The entire contingent will participate in 10 different sports and represent 20 different nations, including eight on Team USA.

With 10 medals across four Olympics, Allison Schmitt is the most decorated Bulldog in Olympics history.

Track and field supplies the largest block of athletes and coaches, with 23 Bulldogs heading to Paris, while swimming follows with six and tennis at three. The 2024 delegation is the second-largest in Georgia athletic history, trailing only the 36 sent to Rio in 2016 and surpassing the 30 in Tokyo in 2021.

GeorgiaDogs.com and Georgia athletics social media accounts will provide full coverage of Bulldog athletes in Paris throughout the games. The Paris Games begin with the Opening Ceremony on Friday, July 26, with competition running through Sunday, Aug. 11.
