A woman reportedly was robbed at gunpoint last week after arriving home from her job as a dancer at a strip club in downtown Athens.

Among more than $1,000 in belongings that were stolen were two dozen dance outfits.

According to police, the 25-year-old woman said that after leaving work at Toppers International Showbar on North Jackson Street she bought some food and ate it while watching a movie in her car outside of her Maison Drive apartment.

She related that as she was gathering her belongings to go inside a black male wearing a ski mask stepped out of the shadows and stuck a revolver to her temple and took a duffel bag from her.

In addition to 25 dance outfits, the bag contained jewelry, makeup, perfumes and other items totaling more than $1,000 in value.

The masked criminal didn’t utter a word during the encounter, while the victim said she begged for him not to shoot.

After the robber disappeared back into the darkness and a vehicle was heard driving away, the woman knocked on her apartment door but when her sister didn’t answer she drove to a convenience store to call 911.

A police officer who responded noted in a report that he needed to calm down the woman because she was crying and breathing rapidly.

She said that the gunman was about 5-feet-7, and in addition to the ski mask he wore a burgundy T-shirt and gray sweatpants.
