Homeless couple arrested for park arson

By Joe Johnson

A homeless man and woman have been arrested arrested for causing over $30,000 in damages at Southeast Clarke Park,

Most of the damage was to a restroom, caused by fire and graffiti, police said, and a baseball field dugout also was damaged by fire,

The homeless couple were identified as being responsible from game cameras that had set up by the county Fire Marshal’s Office, which had been investigating arson at the park.

William Cochran and Audrey Page, both 35 years old, were each charged with second-degree arson, criminal damage to property, and interference with government property.

Among the couple’s belongings, police found a can of spray paint, and drug paraphernalia that included used smoking pipes.

When they were taken to the county jail, Cochran claimed to have eaten some fentanyl and then slowly collapsed to the ground.

After being transported to the hospital by ambulance, he appeared to feign unconsciousness before being cleared medically for transport back to the jail.

Such a heartbreaking situation all around. It raises important questions about how we handle homelessness, mental health, and public safety. I hope this sparks more conversation about prevention and support services—because punishment alone isn’t a long-term solution.

What do others think—is the system helping or failing in cases like this? Retro Bowl — simple, fast, and totally addictive!
