Homeless woman arrested for prowling in Athens neighborhood

A homeless woman was arrested the evening of July 4th after she was reported to be prowling in the Chadd’s Walk neighborhood.
Police said that 26-year-old Christina Gilmore was seen by residents lurking in front and back yards, between houses and trying to open the locked door of a home on Chadd’s Walk Drive.
Officers searched the area and found Gilmore hiding in some bushes. She kept trying to walk away from the officers and so they took her to the ground and handcuffed her, but she still continued to struggle.
Gilmore was arrested for loitering/prowling and obstruction of law enforcement.
She was initially booked into the county jail but on a judge’s order was later transported to an Advantage Behavioral Health facility for substance abuse and mental health evaluations,
