An Athens woman severely injured her ex-boyfriend early Thursday morning by attacking him with a samurai sword, according to an Athens-Clarke County police report.

Officer responded to the victim’s apartment on Cole Manor Drive at about 2:27 a.m., after the victim’s roommate called 911, according to the report.

Upon arrival, officers found the suspect, 35-year-old Nieshae Nicole Brown of Cedar Shoals Drive, sitting on the ground between two cars outside of the apartment, according to the report.

When one officer knocked on the victim’s door, the 33-year-old man answered, with a towel wrapped around his right bicep, according to the report, which noted that when the towel was removed the officer observed a deep laceration about eight inches long that almost went to the bone and exposed lots of fatty tissue.

The victim explained to the officer that Brown was an ex-girlfriend who came to his house wanting to hang out and spend the night, according to the police report.

The victim reportedly said that he and Brown had been drinking and she became extremely intoxicated, and after a while he left to get food at a Waffle House.

He said that upon returning home, “Brown was acting crazy,” and “was angry and began to berate him and yell at him,” according to the report.

The victim reportedly then took his dog for a walk to get away from Brown and to cool off.

After returning from his walk, the victim and Brown went to his room in order to go to bed, at which time Brown again began to yell at him, prompting him to tell the woman she needed to leave and tossed her bags down the stairs, according to the police report.

The victim said that while attempting to force Brown out of his room, shew grabbed his hair and pulled his hair hard enough to rip off three braids, according to the report.

“Brown then grabbed a samurai sword and (the victim) stated that she poked him in the hip, causing a small laceration,” the report noted.

The victim said he then went across the hall and was knocking on his roommate’s door when Brown struck his arm with the sword, according to report.

The roommate let the victim into his room and then called 911, the report noted.

Police collected the victim’s torn-off braids and the sword as evidence.

The victim was driven by his roommate to a location that was redacted from the version of the report that was publicly released by police.

Brown was arrested and charged under the state Family Violence Act with aggravated assault and battery.

As of Friday afternoon, she was being held at the county jail in lieu of good security bonds totaling $7,000, according to the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office.
