An Athens woman this week was charged with battery on an unborn child in connection with a domestic dispute.

Sarahi Garcia, 30, of East Whitehead Terrace was also charged with aggravated assault, family violence battery, three counts of third-degree cruelty to children, and second-degree criminal damage to property, according to the Clarke County Jail’s website.

Athens-Clarke County police withheld details of the incident, citing a Georgia Open Records Act exemption for the release of information pertaining to child cruelty.

All that was released by police was a redacted report that indicated officers responded shortly after 10 p.m. Monday to an incident that resulted in Garcia’s arrest.

The report listed five victims, a 30-year-old woman, a 31-year-old man and three children ages 7, 9 and 10.

Garcia was released from jail Wednesday on own recognizance bonds totaling $8,300, according to the jail’s website.
