An Athens woman was shot last week during a domestic dispute at her home on Cooper Springs Court, according to an Athens-Clarke County police report.

The 29-year-old victim reportedly told officers that she was arguing with Luther Reeves about whether or not Reeves could buy a Netflix movie when Reeves grabbed a handgun and it went off.

The victim lived with Reeves at the residence, according to the report

The police report noted that the victim was injured in three places from the single gunshot: her right elbow, the right side of her lower abdomen, and her upper right thigh.

The victim, who was waiting for police at the end of the driveway, was taken by ambulance to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.

After police set up a perimeter around the home, Lt. Tim Scott convinced Reeves to surrender during negotiations over the telephone, according to the report.

Upon leaving the house, Reeves was taken into custody without incident.

He was booked into the county jail on charges of reckless conduct, discharging a firearm while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and also with simple battery under the state Family Violence Act.
