A homeless man was arrested Wednesday afternoon for allegedly cutting another man with a broken beer bottle, according to an Athens-Clarke County police report.

The report notes that officers responded at about 4 p.m. to the area of Advantage Behavioral Health System’s Homeless Services facility on North Avenue to investigate a report of a fight there in which one of the combatants was swinging a broken beer bottle at another man.

Upon arrival, the officers found a 36-year-old Athens man who received minor injuries that did not require medical treatment by EMS personnel, according to the report.

The offender was identified as Timothy Jerome Dale, who was charged with aggravated assault and battery.

The police report indicated that Dale was homeless, and he was booked into the county jail under an address in St. Louis, Mo.

As of Thursday afternoon, Dale continued to be held in lieu of good security bonds totaling $2,000.
