Police seeking Athens convenience store robber

By Joe Johnson

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is seeking information on the identity of a suspect who robbed the Golden Pantry at 126 North Milledge Ave. at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday.

A store employee reported to police that a black male wearing a faded red or pink shirt, black pants, a black hat, and gray mask came into the store and demanded that she open the cash register. The subject took an undisclosed amount of cash and left on foot toward The Varsity.

Police are asking the public to look at the screenshots of the robbery suspect below. Note the plaid pattern on the bill of his baseball cap, a gold ring, and the light patch -- possibly a scar or birthmark -- on his right arm.

Police asked that anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information that might help identify him to contact Sgt. Greg Dickson at (762) 400-7070 or Gregory.Dickson@accgov.com.

Anonymous tips can be made to the Crime Stoppers confidential tip line at (706) 705-4775.
