An Athens teen reportedly was shot Thursday afternoon as he walked on a path off of Winterville Road in eat Athens.
According to an Athens-Clarke county police report, a Spring Valley Road resident called 911 at 11:04 a.m. to report that her 19-year-old son had been shot in the leg and she was driving him to the hospital.
She said her son was shot while walking on a path that leads to Airport Mini Mart, according to police, who said the young man’s injuries were not life-threatening.
Officers who went to the scene of the shooting located a blood trail that led them to a black sandal, with impact marks on the ground nearby, according to police.
Three spent bullet cartridge cases were located on the side of the trail, between the sandal and the beginning of the blood trail, the police report noted.
