Athens-Clarke County police on Tuesday said they were investigating the death of a woman whose body was found the day before near a medical clinic on Prince Avenue.
"Police and EMS responded to a deceased person at 892 Prince Ave.," said Capt. Christopher Nichols, commanding officer of the police Criminal Investigations Division.
"The decedent, a 54-year-old female, was discovered near the business," he said, referring to Prince Avenue Primary Care.
"The cause and manner of death remain under investigation by the ACCPD and Clarke County Coroner," Nichols said. "The body will be transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination. The name of the decedent is being withheld until next of kin can be notified."
