A juvenile has been charged with murder in connection with a gang related shooting earlier this month near the University of Georgia campus.

The shooting targeted a house on Northview Drive, where police said a party was being held. More than 40 rounds reportedly were fired during an exchange of gunfire between occupants of a car and people attending the party.

The arrest on Wednesday of X’Zydric Faust became the fourth arrest to be made for the March 5 shooting that killed 24-year-old Ja’ Vanni McDavid on Northview Drive.

Faust, 16, was taken into custody in Florida's Pinellas County with the assistance of local sheriff’s deputies, according to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department. He was charged as an adult.

Previously arrested for murder in connection with McDaniel’s death were Jaden Appling, Glendarius Tate, and Anthony Brown.

Investigators have identified the four arrested suspects as being affiliated with EBE, also known as the Everybody Eats gang.

The victim reportedly had ties with the group’s rival, the Red Tape Gang, or RTG.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Police asked for anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact Detective Paul Johnson at 762-400-7060 or paul.johnson@accgov.com.
