Kirby Smart relative threatened with rape

A relative of University of Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart last week reported that she had been threatened with rape by someone who called her on the phone.

The woman said that the unidentified male caller claimed to be from the Sheriff’s Office and read out an old address of hers and asked that she update with her current one.

After giving her address to him, the caller told the woman that she had an arrest warrant for failing to report for jury duty.

When she told the caller that she was going to call the Sheriff’s Office to verify, the male shouted, “I know who you are, you’re Kirby Smart’s (relative) and I’m going to rape your ass” and hung up.

The woman expressed concerns for her safety, telling police that she didn’t recognize the voice and that she had no known enemies.
