Madison County man arrested for alleged rape in Athens

Osvaldo Zacaria Torres, 22, of Hull was arrested early in the morning of November 1st after he allegedly raped a 24-year-old woman in the Gatewood neighborhood of northwestern Athens-Clarke County.

The person who called police said he was wakened by the victim yelling and responding officers had a difficult time waking up Torres, who was intoxicated,

He reportedly told police that he had been with the victim downtown and after taking an Uber to her home she was unable to walk and so he carried her inside and to her bed.

He laid down next to the woman and they engaged in what he described as “weird sex.”

The woman told police that she did not consent to have intercourse and told Torres to stop multiple times.

He is being held at the jail guaranteed bail hearing that has yet to be scheduled.
