An Athens man had his young son with him when he was recently arrested for selling drugs from his car, according to police.

Members of the Northeast Georgia Regional Drug Task Force were conducting surveillance the afternoon of May 23rd when they saw Terrance Turner making transactions from his car on Barnett Shoals Road.

When a marked police unit made a traffic stop on the car, Turner’s 7-year-old son was in the front passenger seat and the odor of marijuana was detected coming from inside the vehicle.

A relative took custody of the child prior to the car being searched.

Police said they found three jars of marijuana in the center console and a backpack with a larger amount of weed in the trunk.

Turner also had THC wax in the car, police said, along with packaging materials that included plastic bags and a vacuum sealer that was plugged into a music amplifier.

Turner was taken into custody on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a controlled substance,

At the time of this arrest, Turner had an aggravated assault case pending in Superior Court.

He is being held without bail in prettial detention.

Police said they were going to notify the Department of Family and Children Services.
