A man who was extremely high on methamphetamine was arrested last week on Baxter Street where he disrupted several area businesses.
Ryan Reed, 37, of Fourth Street came to the attention of police shortly after 7 p.m. Feb. 10 after he ran into a yoga studio and scared employees by his erratic behavior.
One of the employees managed to get Reed outside and locked the door, at which time the suspect ran across the street to a gas station where he told an employee that he was high on meth and made inappropriate comments. Reed reportedly next ran to another business where he exhibited the same behavior.
While searching the area police officers spotted Reed run from inside a liquor store and begin “jumping around, pacing back and forth, and showing symptoms of being extremely high.”
Upon taking Reed into custody, the officers took measures to prevent him from harming himself as they waited on the ambulance that transported him to the hospital.
Officers remained with the man until he began to come down from his high and was cleared to leave by a doctor.
Reed was taken to the jail and booked on charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
The incident occurred five days after Reed was arrested on East Clayton Street for possession of methamphetamine, felony obstruction for violently resisting arrest and tampering with evidence for swallowing methamphetamine.
