A man was indicted this week for allegedly raping a woman at a homeless camp in Athens five months ago.
According to the indictment, filed Tuesday in Clarke County Superior Court, 20-year-old Stephen Dalton Sims forcibly raped the victim between Jan. 20 and 21.
Athens-Clarke County police said the alleged assault occurred at a camp located off College Station Road.
Sims was arrested on a warrant Jan. 26, and though he was booked into the county jail with an address in Suwanee, police said that he was living in Athens at the time of the alleged assault.
Sims on Wednesday continued to be detained without bail being set.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on July 6.
