Man reports being sexually assaulted while fishing

A 27-year-old Athens man recently reported to police that he was sexually assaulted while trying to fish in a local park.

He told police that it happened the evening of September 3rd in Ben Burton Park off Mitchell Bridge Road.

He said that the suspect approached him from behind and while holding him with one arm reached with the other into his pants and grabbed his penis.

He told police that he broke loose and knocked the suspect to the ground and punched him in the face, and then the other man walked away.
