Gang member arrested for man’s shooting in Nellie B community

An arrest has been made for the shooting iof a man two months ago in the Nellie B. Community apartment complex in East Athens.

Ytrevious Roberson, 20, was charged with aggravated assault for allegedly shooting 20-year-old Lamarkus Craig on East Carver Drive in December.

According to Athens-Clarke County police, officers responded to East Carver Drive after multiple 911 calls were made regarding gunshots being fired in the area.

While they were on the scene, the officers learned that Craig had been driven to St. Mary's Hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound.

He had been shot in the arm and the bullet lodged in his back, according to the police report, which indicated that after hearing the gunshots a witness saw a black male with gold-tipped dreadlocks get into a gray Honda sedan and drive away.

The car displayed a Georgia tag that ended with "9230," according to the report, which indicated that the incident was partially recorded by a neighbor's Ring camera, and investigators recovered spent shell casings from the scene.

After an investigation, Roberson was identified as the shooter, and warrants were obtained, charging him with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and violating the Georgia anti-gang act.
