Oconee County Library begins relocation to Wire Park

Artistic rendering of the new library at Wire Park

Oconee Library in Watkinsville will be closing at 6 p.m. Nov. 22 as it prepares moving to its future location at Wire Park in January.

Borrowed that are due during the closure can be returned to any Athens Regional Library System or PINES  Library. Items that are on hold will not be available for pickup at the Oconee Library during the closure; however, patrons can retrieve their held items at the Aaron Heard Resource Center at 400 McKinley Drive in Athens.

Patrons will be able to return books in the Library Book Drop up until Dec. 17. The library will also continue to take book donations in donation bins outside the library until Dec. 15.

We appreciate the community’s patience as we work towards opening up at our new location in January 2024. The Oconee County Library staff are excited about the new location and the improved experience we will be able to provide at the new facility.
