A woman was killed Friday night when she was struck by an SUV as she crossed Atlanta Highway on the west side, Athens-Clarke County police said.
The incident happened at about 9;37 p.m. as the Jetsenia Gissel Rosado, 36, was crossing the four-lane highway at Custom Place near Old Monroe Road, police said.
The responding officers attempted life-saving measures prior to the victim being transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
The SUV's Driver was not charged, according to police, who noted that the victim was not in a designated crosswalk.

This is the 10th fatal traffic Cato of 2023 in Athens-Clarke County.

Couple this with everyone driving over the speed limit and being distracted by cellphones—-how does it not happen everyday?
