Police investigate fatal shooting on Athens Road

Police Monday morning were at the scene of an apparent fatal shooting on Athens Road in eastern Athens-Clarke County.

Lt. Jody Thompson, ACCPD's public information officer, confirmed that there was a shooting at a location on Athens Road, but he could not immediately provide information to explain a coroner's van being at the scene, where yellow crime scene tape was strung up across two adjoining properties.

"I’m working on the press release. As soon as I am cleared to release the information, I will." he said Monday afternoon.
