Police issue BOLO after woman hospitalized by Athens domestic violence incident

Police have issued a BOLO for a 31-year-old man from Gwinnett County who beat and strangled his girlfriend in an Athens hotel.

The incident occurred on the evening of September 22nd at Sleep Inn & Suites where the 29-year-old Athens woman escaped from her attacker and found a housekeeper who called 911 for her.

She identified the suspect as her boyfriend, Shakir Jackson of Lawrenceville.

He reportedly fled from the hotel in a blue Honda Civic displaying Georgia tag DBQ8710.

The victim was said to be badly cut and bruised with strangle marks on her neck and was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Police said they obtained arrest warrants charging Jackson with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, interference with a 911 emergency call, family violence battery, and false imprisonment.

A police report notes that Jackson has previously been convicted of domestic violence crimes.
