Science fact of the day: Burrowing owls hiss

Burrowing Owls will often run into their burrows when they feel threatened.

To scare off their predators (which include Horned Owls, hawks, badgers, foxes, and some domestic pets), they make a hissing sound or rattling noise to imitate rattlesnakes, whose burrows they often repurpose.
