Science fact of the day: Giant swallowtails are the largest butterflies in the U.S.

The largest butterfly in the United States is the Giant Swallowtail (Papilio cresphontes).

These beautiful creatures have a wingspan of over 6 inches.

They are mostly found in the in the eastern and southern parts of the country.
