Suspect arrested after trying to set fire inside Target in Barrow County

The following was released this afternoon by the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office:
At approximately 1141 hours, the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from Target located at 916 Loganville Highway in Bethlehem regarding a male individual attempting to start a fire inside the store.
Deputies arrived on the scene promptly and ensured the safety of all customers and staff.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and everyone was safely evacuated from the premises.
The individual involved has been identified and is currently in custody. The investigation into the
motive and circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
Sheriff Smith commends the swift action of Target employees and responding deputies for their
professionalism and commitment to public safety. “Thanks to the quick response and coordinated
efforts, a potentially dangerous situation was contained without harm,” said Sheriff Smith.
The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public for their continued support and
