An Athens teen was shot last week in the Hoyt Street parking lot of the Lyndon House Arts Center.
Police said that officers were responding to reports of gunfire being heard there on the night of May 24th when they were notified by Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center that 15-year-old Bradyn Malcom was being treated for a gunshot wound to his leg.
Investigators learned that the boy had been in a group of teenagers in the parking lot that was fired upon by Ryderius Clarke, 18, from Elberton.
No one else in the group was injured, and police were unable to establish a motive for the attack. A police incident report notes that a “big party” was being held that night nearby on College Avenue.
Clarke was arrested for aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and is being held without bail in pretrial detention.
