A 21-year-old student at the University of Georgia was found dead Friday night by his roommate at their off campus apartment.
Police say that Maxwell Baffoe-Bonnie was found in the bathroom with multiple stab wounds to his neck and a knife on the floor beside him.
The roommate told police that he had last seen Baffoe-Bonnie two days earlier before leaving for his home in Douglasville. He said that Baffoe-Bonnie had not given any indications that he might try to harm himself, but had been drinking regularly and smoking marijuana, and had dropped out of three of the four classes he was taking.
When police officers responded to the apartment on Friday they had to remove the bathroom door to gain access because Baffoe-Bonnie was up against it.
The police department has not responded to questions about the incident.
During the fall semester, a UGA publication had this to say about the student; “Baffoe-Bonnie is a junior. On campus, he is involved in Road Dawgs, Corporate Pre-law Society, and UGA Compass to College. He aspires to to attend law school with hopes of becoming a corporate attorney after graduation. A fun fact about Max is that he shares a birthday with late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel!”
