When Is Santa Claus Coming To Athens?


Get ready, because Santa Claus is coming to Athens! This holiday season, the man in red is spreading holiday joy all over town. So get those wishlists ready, be on your best behavior (Santa knows if you've been bad or good!) and mark your calendar. Here's when and where you can catch Santa in the Athens area this year!

Beechwood Holiday Market

When: Nov. 24, Dec. 1, Dec. 8

Where: Beechwood Shopping Center, 196 Alps Road.

What: Join the community at the third annual Beechwood Holiday Market for a delightful Breakfast with Santa experience. Revel in the festive atmosphere with live music, food trucks, Santa photos, hayrides, face painting, s’mores and hot chocolate. Bring the whole family to enjoy these free festivities and create cherished memories, including the chance to meet Santa.


Downtown Athens Parade of Lights

Dec. 7th beginning at 7p.m.

Athens-Clarke County Unified Government and Athens Downtown Development Authority are proud to present the Downtown Parade of Lights.

Entries will compete for such prizes as “Most Original Float,” “Best Use of Theme,” and “Best Use of Lights.”  The best overall float will receive the “Mayor’s Award.”  

The parade includes the traditional tree lighting ceremony at City Hall hosted by none other than Santa.

The ACC Downtown Parade of Lights will begin on the corner of Hancock Avenue and Pulaski Street. This year's parade route map will be available at www.accgov.com/parade

This is a “rain or shine” event. If safety becomes an issue for participants and spectators due to severe weather, the parade may be cancelled by the event organizer.

When: Saturday, Dec. 16

Where:: Sandy Creek Nature Center, 205 Old Commerce Road,

What: Indulge in a delightful afternoon at Cookies with Santa at Sandy Creek Nature Center's Classroom No. 1. Children aged 3-12 will receive a box of cookies to decorate and craft kits to create, all while having the chance to interact with Santa individually. Sandy Creek Nature Center staff will guide the activities at various stations, offering a memorable opportunity for kids to engage in festive fun and spend time with Santa Claus. Additional cookie and craft kits are available for purchase as add-ons to enhance this joyful holiday experience.Click here for more info.


When: Saturday, Dec. 9

Where: The Classic Center Atrium, 300 N. Thomas Street

What: Celebrate the joy of the holidays at Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus! Little ones can share their Christmas wishes with Santa, engage in festive crafts and enjoy the company of Buddy the Elf during a morning filled with fun. A professional photographer will capture precious family moments, and children can participate in a Christmas coloring contest for a chance to win. Tickets are $30 for adults, $25 for children under 10 and complimentary for children under 1 year with the purchase of an adult ticket.
