A 35-year-old Winder man on Friday remained hospitalized with gunshot injuries, a day after his parents were found shot to death in their home.
The deaths of the couple were discovered early Thursday morning when Barrow County deputies responded to a the man's home in the Kendall Park subdivision after he called 911 to report there had been a shooting. His 64-year-old stepfather was dead, as was his mother, age 66.
The man had also been shot, and he was transported to the hospital with injuries that were described as non life-threatening,
"The victims' son is still in the hospital," Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith said Friday afternoon.
"We are still trying to piece together what happened but due to the fact he is still being medically tended to we have not had the opportunity to discuss any details with him."
The victims and their sons have yet to be publicly identified because the family notification process was ongoing, the sheriff explained .
While investigators know possible motives for the deadly shootings, Smith confirmed that the suspect had been arrested in May for stabbing his stepfather and subsequently received treatment at a mental health facility as a condition of his release from custody on bond.
So is the son thats been shot the suspect?
