Woman arrested for DUI after crashing car into school bus

Nichole Rishon Burges, 53, of Canon, was arrested after crashing her car into a school bus this week on the Athens Perimeter.

The incident happened Thursday morning near the highway’s Chase Street exit where the woman’s car crashed into the rear of the bus and became lodged underneath.

She wasn’t hurt, but the driver of the bus and its lone student passenger were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Following an investigation by the Georgia State Patrol, Burgess was arrested on charges of DUI, following another vehicle too closely, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug objects, and driving on a suspended license.

She is being jailed at the county jail in lieu of a $1,500 bond,
