A St. Simons Island woman was arrested Thursday in connection with a fatal crash three months ago on the east side of Athens.
Isabela Victoria Doulatshahi, 20, was driving a 2003 Mercedes Benz 320 the afternoon of April 10 when she ran a stop sign on Barrington Place at Gaines School Road, according to Athens-Clarke County police.
The car drove into the side of a 2019 Toyota Highlander that was traveling north on Gaines School Road, police said.
The Highlander had four occupants, police said, and the front-seat passenger, 76-year-old Gail Wilder of Athens died after being transported to the hospital.
Doulatshahi was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Following an investigation by the police Traffic Unit, warrants were obtained charging Doulatshahi with second-degree homicide by vehicle and failure to obey a stop sign.
She surrendered at the Clarke Jail Thursday morning and was released that afternoon upon posting a $1,000 security bond.
