Woman had unnerving Firefly Trail encounter

A 23-year-old Athens woman was taking a walk on the Firefly Trail on September 12th when she had an unnerving encounter with a man on a trail bridge near Oak Street.
She reported to police that it was about 6 p.m. and as she approached him he told her not to look at him “like that,” and then said she was going to need a gun.
The woman kept on walking at a brisk pace and upon reaching a safe distance she turned and saw the man holding a knife.
She described him as a stocky white man who was about 5-feet-8 and had blonde hair, or possibly was bald,
