A woman was killed Tuesday afternoon when her SUV collided with a school bus in Walton County, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
The bus was occupied by the driver and two children, none of whom was injured, the patrol said.
According to GSP, the incident happened at about 4:44 p.m., when the Walton County Sheriff’s Office requested that GSP investigate a fatal crash on Georgia 81 at its intersection with Ozora Church Road.
An investigation determined that a Lexus SUV being driven by Ashley Callahan, 40, of Good Hope failed to yield to the bus when making a left turn from Ozora Church Road onto Georgia 81 to travel north.
The Walton County school bus was traveling south on Georgia 81 approaching its intersection with Ozora Church Road., which the patrol said is controlled by a stop sign for traffic on Ozora Church Road only. The driver of the Lexus failed to yield while making the left turn traveling across the path of the school bus, at which time, the bus collided with the Lexus, whose driver died of the scene.
Tge two young passengers on the bus reportedly were the driver's children.
