The following was released Monday evening by the Winder Police Department:
Winder Police Department has arrested six individuals, including four juveniles, in connection with a Jan. 3 shooting at Rose Hill Cemetery that left a 19-year-old woman injured.
The suspects include 17-year-old Keishod Hunt and four juveniles—two aged 14 and two aged 15—all from the Winder area. Additionally, 19-year-old Owen Sudduth of Watkinsville was charged in the incident.
The investigation began Friday afternoon when officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 1:45 p.m. reporting a woman with a gunshot wound in a vehicle parked on Candler Street. Emergency Medical Services transported the woman to a local hospital for treatment.
Police say Sudduth, the vehicle’s driver, told officers he had arranged to meet several males at Rose Hill Cemetery to sell marijuana. During the transaction, the males allegedly attempted to rob him at gunpoint. As Sudduth fled the scene in his vehicle, one of the suspects fired a gun, striking his female passenger in the back. Sudduth then drove to a nearby parking lot and called 911.
Winder officers, with assistance from the Barrow County Sheriff’s deputies, quickly canvassed the area near the cemetery and apprehended five suspects connected to the shooting.
After further investigation, police charged Hunt and the four juveniles with aggravated assault and criminal attempt to commit armed robbery. Sudduth was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Hunt and Sudduth were taken to the Barrow County Detention Center, while the juveniles were transported to a Regional Youth Detention Center.
The Winder Police Department thanks the Barrow County Sheriff's Office for its assistance in the investigation, which remains ongoing.
