Alleged DUI driver found asleep at McDonald’s drive thru

Brittany Meadows, 36, of Carlton was arrested late the night of April 7th by police who found her asleep at the wheel of her car in the drive thru line at McDonald’s on U.S. Highway 29 North.

An employee called police at 11:36 p.m. after the woman reportedly had been asleep for about 15 minutes, causing others in line to drive around her car.

A responding police officer noted in an incident report that upon turning off the idling vehicle and rousing the sleeping driver, Meadows “looked up and began giggling.”

The officer further pointed out that Meadows spoke nonsensically with speech that was slurred, and exhibited such signs of opioid intoxication as eye pupils that were constricted in low lighting.

She also failed to complete standardized field sobriety testing.

A search of the car turned up bottles of unspecified medication that had been prescribed to someone other than Meadows, according to police.

Meadows was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.

Records show that Meadows has a pending case in State Court from an arrest in October for DUI drugs.
