Suspects sought in major animal cruelty case

Released today by the Gwinnett County Police Department
(Snellville, Ga., Dec. 23, 2025) – On September 17, 2025, Gwinnett County Animal Control requested assistance from the Gwinnett County Police Department 1914 Britt Drive,regarding allegations of animal cruelty. Due to the severity and circumstances of the case, detectives were also requested to respond and assist with the investigation.
As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was obtained for the residence. During the execution of the warrant, a total of twenty-five dogs were seized. Many of the dogs were confined to small cages containing feces and urine. They were also under weight and malnourished.
Additionally, investigators recovered 13 plastic bags containing deceased canines from three separate refrigerators inside the residence. Several of the deceased animals were in varying stages of decomposition.
Further investigative steps included veterinary examinations of the living animals and necropsies conducted on the deceased canines. Based on the findings of the investigation, on December 8, 2025, 12 felony warrants for Cruelty to Animals and 14 misdemeanor warrants for Cruelty to Animals were obtained against Christine Abbott (67) and Donna Slavin (65).
At the time of this release, Abbott and Slavin are not in police custody. They are encouraged to turn themselves intothe Gwinnett County Jail, located at 2900 University Parkway in Lawrenceville.
