There was a number on CCN that the police estimated that there were 3,700 gang members in Athens. Let's just say that 80% are minorities ( I know it's more) so that gets to 3,000 minority gang members. There are about 40K black and minorities in Athens. Half are male which gets you to 20K. Now that includes little kids and geriatrics so that number gets halved again to get eligible gang members, so 10K. That makes gang membership of young minority males in Athens is 30%!!! Something is wrong.

Really glad to hear of the great work in getting these thugs off the streets. Now, we just need to keep them locked up despite the efforts my many to allow them back into our community.
