James King was barely breathing when police found him lying on the ground and bleeding from the head.
They learned from witnesses that the 56-year-old homeless man had been brutally beaten by a suspect half his age, Tyderius LaJason Moon, who he had accused of stealing from him.
An argument escalated to a fight outside of Golden Pantry on Prince Avenue at Barber Street on the morning of August 3rd, during which Moon reportedly had been on top of King and pummeling his face with punches before throwing a large brick at his head two times.
Moon ran away from the scene and was later arrested when located on West Hancock Avenue.
King was transported to the hospital with multiple skull and facial fractures.
Moon was charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
Now 28 years old, court records show him to be a lifelong criminal, with felony cases every year since becoming an adult.
He is being held in pretrial detention pending a September 12th bail hearing.
