An Athens-Clarke County police officer recently accidentally fired a gun inside his home and into a neighboring residence.
According to a police report, the incident happened the afternoon of April 24th when 28-year-old Christopher Waller was in his apartment on Jennings Mill Parkway, practicing dry-fire drills with his department-issued 9mm pistol.
When the gun accidentally discharged, the bullet passed through a wall into the adjoining apartment and then punched through another wall before going outside and into a wooded area.
The apartment next to the officer’s was vacant at the time.
