Athens Tech celebrates SkillsUSA Georgia medalists

The following has been released by Athens Technical College;

Athens Technical College’s SkillsUSA Chapter medaled in four competitions with eight total student

medals.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has

a skilled workforce. Its mission is to empower its members to become world-class workers, leaders

and responsible American citizens. The National Leadership & Skills Conference took place at the

State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on June 23-27, 2025.

Students from across the United States participated in this event, and it is considered the largest

gathering of America’s future skilled workforce and the ultimate recognition of excellence in career

and technical education. The conference this year hosted over 6,800 competitors.

Silver medalists include:

• Maddy McKeel: Welding Sculpture

Bronze medalists include:

• Jillian Hawkins: Job Skills Demonstration

• Clayton Adams, Andrew Marshall, Clayton Adams, Emanuel Benitez-Reyes, Kilik Smith, Ywua

Way, and Jamarkis Howard: Quiz Bowl

“I’m very proud of all of our students who participated in this year’s national conference.

Congratulations to our participants and medalists,” said ATC President Andrea Daniel. “They all have

put in a lot of time and effort into their workforce training sector and it’s rewarding to see their hard

work pay off.”

In addition, Athens Technical College was one of the top three technical colleges to earn medals,

tying with Wiregrass Georgia Technical College with eight medals.

Georgia also ranked in the Top 10 at the 2025 SkillsUSA National Championships. Students at the

technical colleges earned 37 medals, contributing to a combined total of 44 medals for the state,

placing Georgia at #9 nationally in overall medal count.Athens Technical College has served citizens since 1958
