Quavarez Marquez Sanders, 22, formerly of Weir Circle, has received a 20- year sentence for killing teenager two years ago.
On the morning of May 22, 2024 he fatally shot 17-year-old Mykerion Rodgers from a moving car on West Broad Street at Pulaski Street.
The victim had lived at the nearby Parkview Homes apartment complex. Authorities never disclosed a motive for the killing.
Sanders was indicted on charges that included criminal attempt to commit murder.
According to a plea agreement filed this month in Superior Court, that charge was dismissed and Sanders pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
He was sentenced to 20 years, with the first seven years in prison and the remainder on probation.
